Friends Accomplishments
The Friends of Deep Fork NWR have accomplished many different tasks in the past several years. They have been instrumental in assisting the Refuge in purchasing small tracts of land that the Refuge would have no way of purchasing. Members of the Friends group provide significant hours of volunteer service to the Refuge. Whether assisting with events, refuge maintenance, or the Refuge hunting program, the Friends group is committed to helping the Refuge provide recreational opportunities for local visitors. Projects that the Friends have assisted with include: funding for the fishing dock at the Montezuma Creek pond; funding for the new pavilion and tables at the Cussetah Bottoms boardwalk area; land acquisition – several tracts.
